What “public” means here
A link is public when anyone can open it in a browser without logging into Instagram and without being an approved follower. If a private window (logged out) can view the post, Story, Reel, carousel, or profile picture, Instappa may be able to resolve it. If Instagram blocks the view behind a login wall, Instappa will not download it.
Public is about visibility, not about permission to republish. A creator can leave a post public for anyone to watch and still own the copyright. Instappa’s tools only answer the visibility question: can this URL be fetched without Instagram authentication?

- Copy the share link from Instagram (Share → Copy link).
- Open a private or incognito browser window and stay logged out of Instagram.
- Paste the URL. If the media plays or displays fully, it is a candidate for Instappa.
- If Instagram asks you to log in, shows “This account is private,” or only a teaser, stop — the matching Instappa tool will fail for the same reason.

What stays out of reach
- Private accounts and posts that require a follow request
- Close Friends Stories and other restricted audiences
- Content that only appears after Instagram login
- Expired Stories and deleted posts
- Age-gated or region-restricted surfaces Instagram does not expose anonymously
- Anything that would require bypassing authentication, paywalls, or DRM
We do not ask for Instagram passwords and we do not operate as a way around account privacy settings. Tools that claim to “unlock private Instagram” are making a promise Instappa deliberately refuses.

- Expired Stories. A Story can be public for 24 hours and then vanish. That is expiry, not privacy. Details: when Stories expire.
- Wrong tool. A public Reel on the image page (or a photo on the video page) can fail even though the post is public. Match the format first.
- Temporary throttling. Instagram sometimes rate-limits anonymous resolve traffic. Wait and retry a link you already confirmed is public in a logged-out window.
- Deleted or archived posts. If the creator removed the post, the old share URL stops resolving everywhere — including Instappa.
Public does not mean “free to reuse commercially”
Even when a post is publicly viewable, the creator (or rights holder) still owns the copyright in most cases. Downloading a file for personal offline reference is different from republishing it, using it in ads, or selling it. Instappa does not grant you a license to the media — we only provide a technical convenience for retrieving publicly exposed files you already have a right to keep.

How Instappa handles your request
You paste a URL. We attempt to resolve publicly available media metadata and streams for that URL, then let you save the file to your device. We do not store your downloads as a long-term hosting service, and we do not cache Instagram passwords (we never collect them). Details live in the Política de privacidad.
Failure messages should describe what went wrong — private or unavailable media, wrong format, or temporary limits — rather than implying Instappa can somehow unlock restricted content on a second try with a password.

Instappa is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. Platform names and logos belong to their respective owners.
